Our School

Oldfield Park Infant School is a Community School for children from the ages of 4 - 7 years.

The history of the school dates from 1878 and it has a long tradition of serving the local community. Some families have been educated here for several generations! The original building with more recent extensions has six large classrooms with plenty of space for a variety of  teaching and learning     activities. Parts of the school have been redesigned to create a reference library and I.C.T. suite. In addition we have a hall, small group room, workroom, offices and staffroom as well as a separate dining room called ‘The Hive’ where a variety of community activities also take place.

Our playground and outside areas have been designed to provide areas for leisure time and to support the wider curriculum. We have an established  wildlife area with seating, willow tunnel, pond and native plants. All the children are involved in  growing a variety of fruit and vegetables in our organic garden.  We also have an outdoor classroom , quiet areas with shade, space for imaginative play and two timber adventure trails. We offer an exciting curriculum to meet the needs and interests of young children with high standards in the essential skills of reading, writing and mathematics.

The school has an excellent reputation in the local community and everyone associated with the school works hard to achieve the best for every child in all aspects of school life. Our recent OFSTED reports have each judged Oldfield Park Infants to be a good school with several outstanding features. Our most recent OFSTED inspections have each judged Oldfield Park Infants to be a good school with several outstanding features.
