Our History
The school has a long tradition of serving the local community. The main building dates from 1878 and in recent times has been modernised and well maintained. An extension housing offices and a classroom was opened in April 2003.

The accommodation consists of six large classrooms, a hall, a dining room, Special Needs room, workroom, offices and staffroom. A new food activities/cooking area is located within the staff room. The dining room is also used as our 'Rainbow Room' with weekly activities for pre-school children, and by our Breakfast and After School Clubs.

Our recently created reference library is well stocked with a range of books covering the children's interests. An I.C.T. Suite has been provided by re-modelling space within the older part of the building. We now have a 'state of the art' suite with fifteen computers enabling whole classes to learn I.C.T. skills and make use of a range of programmes including the internet. Each of the Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms has an interactive whiteboard.

At Oldfield Park Infants we aim to provide a stimulating working environment both inside and outside in which all children are eager to learn and do their best. The attractive displays of children's work reflect our varied approaches to teaching and learning throughout the school.

An enthusiastic group of parents, governors and staff have been working on a project to develop our playground as both an area for leisure time and to support the wider curriculum. To this end an area of grass has been created in place of our former twin classroom block and we have been fortunate to have the whole area resurfaced. We have redeveloped our wildlife area providing improved access with a path, seating, willow tunnel, pond and native plants. We have added an organic garden, outdoor classroom , quiet areas with shade, and a timber adventure trail. To
encourage imaginative play there is also a small stage area.

We want our school to be the best it can be to serve the needs of our children and their families. All staff aim to provide a welcoming, happy and caring atmosphere where the children feel secure and are given the opportunity to develop their talents fully. The Headteacher and staff are always happy to discuss children's progress and parental concerns.
