Dear Parents,
Just a brief
newsletter this week to welcome everyone back to school, wish you all a very
happy new year and bring you up to date with events over the first week back.
We have lots of ideas for activities for the children and one or two for adults
which we will hopefully be nearer to finalising for the next newsletter.

Friendship Week (Anti
Bullying Week)
You may be aware that a national anti-bullying week is held
each year in November. As the dates fell in the middle of our preparations for
Christmas we decided to hold our week at the beginning of this term.
We thought that it would be easier for young children to understand the idea of being a good friend to everyone. Next week our assemblies and many of the activities in the classrooms will focus on friendship and anti-bullying behaviour in particular.
This is also part of our SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) work in school. The main theme this term is ‘Going for Goals’ and we will be thinking about setting our New Year’s Resolutions on the theme of friendship. These will form our behaviour targets for the first few weeks of term and we’ll let you have a list of these once the children have chosen them.
This would be a good time to look out your copy of the school’s Anti Bullying Policy and share the leaflet for children with your child.

The dreaded head lice : be a bug buster this weekend.
We have had numerous reports about head lice infestations
over the past few weeks. There seem to be more of them and apparently they are
bigger than ever !!! I know that it is very upsetting
when your child keeps getting them despite a massive effort to keep them at
bay. The only way to defeat them is for EVERYONE to treat their children at the
same time. So PLEASE check your child’s head this weekend and treat
them in your preferred way.
In Service Day
Please
remember that we have an In Service day next Friday, January 12th.
The final
day for the year is likely to be in early June.
Christmas Group Photos
This year we took a group photograph of each class in their
nativity costumes. We will have these professionally copied onto special photo
certificates which make a really nice souvenir of your child’s performance.
This year we have decided to send for the number required for each class as we
had quite a few left over last year. Please order your photos on the form
overleaf enclosing your payment. The photos are also shown but larger colour
copies of each (before being copied onto the certificate) will be displayed on
the notice board in the playground.
Yours sincerely
Jo Claridge
