Theme Weeks - The Mystery, March 5th - 9th 2007

A mysterious object caused excitement when it landed in our playground and was discovered by the children on their arrival at school.

What was it? Where had it come from? Who did it belong to ? How did it get here?

These were some of the questions that the children asked and explored during the following week.

Most of the children decided that it was probably something from space such as a spaceship or satellite and much talk of aliens followed !

Their suspicions seemed to be confirmed in the following days when strange gold footprints appeared out of nowhere, followed by what seemed to be alien eggs of some sort, strange writing and sparkling dust !!

The week gave the children opportunities to follow up their own ideas about the mysterious happenings through art, dance, story telling and model making.

The end of the week saw every child and adult dressed up on the theme of mysteries. Costumes included spies, fortune tellers, a unicorn, aliens and a gorgon to name but a few ! Even the school diner menu was themed for the week with dishes such as Pizza Planets, Alien Veg and Venus Glory to tempt the tastebuds.
