The Role of the Governors
The School Governors work in partnership with the school's senior leadership
team in making financial, staffing and curriculum decisions and meet
termly.
There are three sub-committees - Finance, Standards and Curriculum,
and People and Environment which also meet regularly to work on particular
aspects of school life.
The People and Environment Committee oversees the following issues
- Health and Safety, Buildings, Equality and Diversity, Child Protection
and Safeguarding, Admissions, Behaviour, Attendance, Emergency planning,
Anti- Bullying, and Access for people with disabilities.
The Standards and Curriculum Committee oversees the following issues
- all subject policies and Schemes of Work, Health Education, Sex Education,
Drugs Education, Collective Worship, Multicultural Education, Special
Needs, and Assessment and Marking.
The Governing Body promotes policies that help create a safe environment
and happy atmosphere conducive to learning and to provide the best education
possible in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation
Stage Curriculum and National Curriculum for all children.
Governors take an active part in the life of the school where possible
and as appropriate. Individual Governors are linked to a particular
year group and aspect of school improvement in which they take a special
interest.
The Governing Body endeavours to keep parents informed of decisions
throughout the year.
A folder containing the current minutes of the Governing Body is available
for parents to view in school.
